Often the need for and the appropriate frequency of colonoscopies are uncertain in these patients. One such referral is patients with mutations in one allele of a recessively acting gene such as&nbsp;<em>MUTYH<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a study examining the importance of rare variants, investigators analyzed 58,998 CRC cases and 71,171 controls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bottom-line finding was that monoallelic variants in recessive-acting genes such as&nbsp;<em>MUTYH<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>NTHL1<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>MSH3<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>MBD4<\/em>&nbsp;are not associated with increased CRC risk.
