The genetic risk of distal eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases in patients with EoE is not known. This study examined the risk of eosinophilic gastritis\/gastroenteritis (EG\/EGE) and eosinophilic colitis (EC) in patients with EoE and their first-, second-, and third-degree relatives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This study consisted of 8455 patients with EoE, 396 with EG\/EGE, and 172 with EC, identified from the Utah Population Database. There was an increased risk of EG\/EGE for first-degree relatives (relative risk [RR], 7.77) and second-degree relatives (odds ratio, 1.94; 95% confidence interval, 1.35-2.70) of the EoE probands. There also was an increased risk of EG\/EGE shown in EC probands and their first-degree (RR, 3.21) and third-degree relatives (RR, 1.81).
